Phonics/ Reading
Phase 4
Each day there will be a phonics video available to watch. Click the link and join  in here. Scroll down until you find the reception video for the day. (Uploaded at 10am)

Writing
Imagine you are on the train ride. Draw a scene from the train window.
Write simple sentences describing what you can see from your window.
eg.
I can see tall trees in a field.
I can hear heavy rain falling down.

Maths
Day 2 - Night Pirates
Walk the plank, floating or sinking.
Watch video and complete the activities

Select a number of items up to 10. Investigate which ones float and which ones sink.
Sort them into two groups. Objects that float and objects that sink. How many floated? How many sank? Which group has more and which has less? What is the difference between the amount in your groups?

Creative activity
DIY string telephones.
To make the phones use foam or paper cups, yoghurt pots or tin cans. You will need string and paint/ crayons for decoration.
Instructions:
  1. Cut a long piece of string, you can experiment with different lengths.
  2. Poke a small hole in the bottom of each cup.
  3. Thread the string through each cup and tie knots at each end to stop it pulling through the cup (alternatively you can use a paper clip, washer or similar small object to hold the string in place).
  4. Move into position with you and a friend holding the cups at a distance that makes the string tight (making sure the string isn't touching anything else).
  5. One person talks into the cup while the other puts the cup to their ear and listens, can you hear each other?
