Wednesday 6th May

Hello Reception,
I hope everyone is well today?
Thank you for continuing to share pictures and comments of all the things you have been doing. I add these to our blog so all your friends can see what you've been doing. It's great for us to keep in contact.

Here are your activities for today!

PE
It's time for some more Cosmic kids yoga on YouTube. Would you believe it... I found a hungry caterpillar yoga video. This links well with this weeks Maths.

Literacy
Normally we would ask Mrs Harvey our very own important lollipop lady (you may have noticed her outside our school) to come in and talk to us about road safety and her role in keeping us safe.
Talk about the role of the school crossing patrol and how important they are at providing us with a safe place to cross the road. School crossing patrol officers are often called lollipop people after the shape of the sign they use.
They wear bright colours which are reflective so that they can be seen by the traffic.
You should cross the road in front of the Lollipop person to keep you safe once they have stopped the traffic. Mrs Harvey tells cars she wants to cross the road by holding her Lollipop out towards the road.
Have you noticed how they put up their hand to say thank you to the traffic for stopping?

1. Draw a picture of a lollipop person in their bright colours holding a lollipop.

2. Use your phonic sounds to write a list of words to describe the lollipop person.
e.g
bright clothes
lollipop
stop cars
helpful
kind
safe

3. Then write a sentence using the words using some of the words you have used.

Maths
Doubling
Day 2 - The hungry caterpillar - complete the doubling activities.                  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/
Practice adding two sets of the same number. To extend you could do this practically using household objects. (repeat with double numbers up to 10).
2+2=
5+5=
7+7=
etc

Creative/Skills
Worry People
This is a very unusual time something we haven't experienced anything like in our lifetimes. Our young people have adapted to the change and responded incredibly well, taking it all in their stride. However lots of children will experience a range of mixed emotions at this time - sometimes everything becomes a bit overwhelming for us all.
So we are going to create our own worry dolls.
The children will be able to tell their doll all their worries. The doll looks after the worries for the child so they don't have to hold on to their worries.

Phonics

Lesson 8 but feel free to catch up on others if you have missed them.
Read a school book and talk about it.

Have a great day :)

Today’s reflection
It looks like lots of you have been out enjoying the lovely sunshine today ☀️
Thank you for your fantastic work on the school crossing patrol.
It’s been lovely to see all the different things you have been up to while enjoying the nice weather.
Here is what you have been doing so far today.
Zuzanna has been learning about seasons, labelling transport and has created a circle pattern in maths.

Harper has been busy enjoying lots of long walks, she has been growing plants 🌱 for her fairy garden. 🧚‍♀️

Phoebe made a fantastic lollipop and did some great writing about the school crossing patrol.

Lily has been working really hard at home. She made her own worry doll, wrote about the school crossing patrol and drew a great picture. She has also been busy getting decorations ready for V.E day.

Kamil has had a busy day having a refreshing water fight with his big brother and has written about the lollipop lady. He also did his caterpillar doubling for maths.

Manna drew a fantastic picture of the lollipop lady and tried hard to use her sounds to describe her.
